Freshink photoGRAPHY (12)

A picture is worth a thousand words someone once said.  If Dustin Bryson were a fruit, he would be a Kiwi. Hairy enough to make you think he is an animal... then you are proven wrong by his sweet juicy goodness. Not sure how that relates to photography so we will let Dustin's images speak for themselves.

How to Shoot A Conference

Written by Dustin Bryson

Shooting a conference should be fun. Period.  It's a butt load of people cramming into one place to learn something new and exciting, what's not fun about that?  Don't get bent out of shape when the lighting is too low or the aisles don't lend themselves to photographers ducking and weaving all over the place.  Give yourself a mental fist bump and get to shooting!  Oh, and introduce yourself to absolutely EVERYONE.  You are not "the help" you are present to capture the moment and who's to say you can't make the moment better by making everyone laugh by telling a joke or flexing your muscles?

Above: Gary Vaynerchuk, Jon Crawford (of storeenvy), Derek Sivers (founder of CD Baby), Lunch with Gary Vee (check out all those Crush It books on the table!), Massage time, Jason Fried on the bigscreen, A pretty girl laughing at Patrick's flexing

How to Shoot A Hospital

Written by Dustin Bryson

The client simply asked that we show the magnitude of the build out.  It is a massive build out so you would think that would be a relatively easy task.  The problem was there wasn't anywhere to get the shot from.  We couldn't shoot around all the construction equipment because, well, we didn't want to lose our lives.  And we couldn't shoot around the perimeter because the wing was surrounded by an 8 foot fence.  So, we improvised and got permission to shoot from a massive "A" from office building at the very corner of the construction.  They made us wear hard hats which made us feel awesome because we rarely get to look manly when we shoot.

Some shooters would struggle with not having complete control over their shoots.  We just roll with it.  We are there to do a job, to get the shot and to wow our clients.  Patrick didn't lean over and ask if I had renewed our workers comp insurance, we just high fived and enjoyed the adventure.

Less Conf

Written by Dustin Bryson

A few months back we were honored when the guys at Less Everything asked us to provide still photography and video for their first ever conference. We knew the fellas were going to do it up right, because that is simply how they roll, but we honestly had no idea it was going to be as awesome as it was.

First off the guys picked a great location with a beautiful conference center (nestled right on the river walk) and hoppin night life. Second off (second off?) they had absolutely awesome speakers (Des Traynor & Eoghan McCabe of Contrast.ie, Kevin Hale of Woofoo, Mike McDerment of Freshbooks (a company FreshInk uses), Derek Sivers of CD Baby, and Gary Vee of ... well He's Gary Vee and more. Top knotch speakers got brought some great stuff to the table and make the $200 or so bucks people paid to get it well worth it.

Check out the images here and we will let you know when the video goes live (read: viral).

New Toy.

Written by Dustin Bryson

Every single person that works at FreshInk is an ultra geek.  We all love technology, U.I., blogs, and generally anything nerdy.  So when onONe software launched their new cable release app for the iPhone we were all a twitter, er ... uh.  Anyway, we snatched it up right before an in studio shoot thinking we would be able to use it right away.  Unfortunately there were some things that weren't readily apparent, like you have to have your laptop tethered to your camera and have WiFi enabled for it to work.  But once we got it all hooked up and working it did work relatively seamlessly.  We still haven't figured out how to make our strobes fire in live view mode (or if it's even possible) but just the ability to have live mode is amazing!  I won't use this app on a daily basis but for twenty bucks it's absolutely worth the price.  When I do need it I will have it at my finger tips and BOOOYAAAA amazing hands free shooting.

You can check out the software at ononesoftware.com

Montage, oh yea!

Written by Patrick

And this my friends, is a montage. A montage consisting of photos that Dustin and I have taken. Kayak companies, restaurants, brochures, cute ladies. It ain't nothin' but a thang. The best part? We love doing it. If we could choose between photography and food, we'd choose food, hands down. Not really, but let's just pretend we do.

A Great Team Yields Great Results

Written by Dustin Bryson

Having a great team is an essential part of producing great content.  I don't care if  you hand make soap or write iPhone applications it is imperative that you surround yourself with the very best people.  One of our go-to sayings around the FreshInk office is "A genius is a dipstick who surrounds himself with amazing people", and we have done just that.  Without these talented photographers, designers, video producers & site builders our company wouldn't exist as it does today.

So the next time you call and chat with one of our staff give them some kudos for being excellent & for putting up with a couple of dipsticks like Chris and I!
